Fallen

We have fallen far from grace,
We have fallen flat on our face.
We have turned our eyes away,
And we have led ourselves astray.

Why have we fallen to the wayside?
Why do we think we can hide?
We have been blinded by our sin,
It is not hidden to God, but to men.

We cannot survive in the world alone,
And we know that we are sin-prone.
You showed me how to rise above,
And You did so by Your love.

Finish Well

I stand at the starting line,
Looking to my God, divine.
You know the race before you,
And you know what to do.

Many things pass my gaze,
And these are very wicked days.
Forget not the goal ahead,
And continue to press on instead.

The higher call I have taken on,
And Christ's blood did for me atone.
Though the race be long and hard,
I know that I must be on my guard.

The finish line is in the distance,
And I face much resistance.
My God stands waiting there,
Waiting in glory, our victory to share.

Committed To You

I am committed to you,
In everything I say and do.
I am bound to you till death,
I will uphold you till my dying breath.

Though storms rise and mountains crumble,
I with the Lord's help will not stumble.
Though perfect I am not,
I will give it all I have got.

Though some may fall short,
And forget others to exhort.
Though some may dwell on the temporary,
I will go the distance and be extraordinary.

I will ever stay true to the one I love,
And with blessing from God above,
I will uphold my love and my mate,
And with my love there is no expiration date.

I am committed to you,
And I will see this commitment through.
I will not turn my family away,
And will not this love betray.

Clean Me Within

Cleanliness is not in the things that you do,
But in following Christ and letting Him be seen through you.
Cast off the rags that we have clothed ourselves in,
Repent of the unholy, and seek forgiveness of your sin.

Wash yourselves in the cleansing flood,
And know that Christ gave His life and shed His blood.
Have you averted your eyes,
And believed in Satan's lies?

Now being washed and fully cleansed,
And we are by Him recompensed.
My soul does rejoice for it is now clean,
Because now Christ can clearly be seen.

Why Are You Hurting?

Why are you hurting so deep inside?
Are you lost and without a guide?
The pain you feel is holding you down,
And you feel like you are beginning to drown.

My soul is aching and wondering why,
There is much sadness and so many tears I cry.
There is a voice calling through the dark,
There is a greater journey on which to embark.

He says, I will never leave, nor forsake,
I will help to bear the burdens that you undertake.
I once long ago carried a cross,
In order that you not suffer loss.

We are all given a cross to bear,
But He is there our burdens to share.
So give Him your hurt and give Him your pain,
And He will your soul sustain.

Love: A Poetic Look At I Corinthians 13

Love proclaimed with no heart,
Cannot love truly impart.
We love and Christ employs,
Because if we don't it is only noise.
(I Corinthians 13:1)

We think we know about love,
But in Christ, He came from above.
Giving my all, and loving not,
Can cause the soul to be forgot.
(I Corinthians 13:2-3)

Love can take a great deal of hurt,
And when things get tough, it does not desert.
Love is always kind,
And it does not leave anyone behind.
(I Corinthians 13:4a)

Love does not envy others,
But it exhorts its fellow brothers.
Love does not say, I did it on my own,
For by itself, it is left all alone.
(I Corinthians 13:4b)

Love does not say look at me,
It says, Christ, it is because of Thee.
Pride there is no place for you,
It is through Christ, I do what I do.
(I Corinthians 13:4b continued)

Love thinks on the things above,
And knows only the things of love.
Love is not dwelling on evil things,
But love is all that it brings.
(I Corinthians 13:5)

Love holds truth in it's heart,
And in evil it does not take part.
Love took up the cross and did forbear,
And did sacrifice His life for our sins there.
(I Corinthians 13:6-7)

Love believed when others could not,
It chose to love when others forgot.
Love had hope when none could be found,
And through the ages it still does resound.
(I Corinthians 13:7b)

Love endures when things seem hard,
And it continues on when others did disregard.
Love never fails when times get tough,
Love keeps on loving when others say that they have had enough.
(I Corinthians 13:7c, 8a)

Love cannot be known complete,
Until our Savior we shall meet.
Seek the love that God affords,
And you will know its great rewards.
(I Corinthians 13:9,10)

Love continues to flourish and grow,
I once was a child but now I know.
Love is greater than anything,
But it will not be known, until to Christ your soul you bring.
(I Corinthians 13:11-13)

Home Defined

What make a house a home?
A place that we can roam.
The love that fills the heart,
That is where it does start.

The family does grow in these confines,
And those memories it reminds.
What comes home and enter these doors,
Gives us wings and our family soars.

Our borders doth increase,
And God's wonders never cease.
Put your family in the hands of God,
And He leads us on to the eternal sod.

My house is blessed to be a home,
And I know where I came from.
Build up the house you have been given,
Because there is no better way of living.

Blood on the Battlefield

The blood of those that have fought to keep our country free will be remembered as long as we are here. They have fought not for themselves, but for the country as a whole. They would rather lay their lives down in harm's way in order keep what we hold so dear and that is our freedom. Remember them on a daily basis, because if we forget them then we have already lost the battle.

The blood on the battlefield calls out,
And the soldiers moved forward with a battle shout.
They fought so their family could be free,
And not have to live under the enemy's tyranny.

The blood on the battlefield was not shed in vain,
But inspires those fighting that still remain.
The patriots of our past cause us to pause,
And to know that they fought for a worthy cause.

The blood on the battlefield gives us strength,
And helps us to fight to any length.
The patriots still fight on and hold the fort,
And will their fellow patriots exhort.

The blood on the battlefield will serve to remind us,
That our soldiers who fight are courageous.
The troops will bravely stand their ground,
And our freedom will because of them abound.

Foundation

It is where they stood in ages past,
It is built on the Word which will always last.
We stand not on sinking sand,
But on Christ and His guiding hand.

By God's Word we have made our dwelling,
And as the wise man I am to you telling.
For we live not behind a facade,
But we live to honor God.

The Solid Rock on which I stand,
Was not fashioned by man's hand.
He has made our foundation sure,
And it will forever endure.

-Wade Jinright

The Standard

We hold high the standard of the cross,
And with Words of God on our heart emboss.
This standard old and true,
Christ through sacrifice sought to save me and you.

His standard is our anchor in the world's raging flood,
And He our Savior has covered us with His blood.
We sin and did not care,
But He with patience is waiting there.

Remember this standard well,
For without it, your end is Hell.
The reality of this is sure,
And Christ's blood sacrifice is the cure.

The standard strong and true,
Will in the hard times deliver you.
Praise to God, Who in Eternity sits,
And He for us never quits.

Sin: Dark and Deceitful

Sin blinds the thoughts and actions,
By offering the world's attractions.
It offers empty promises,
There is nothing good that comes of this.

Sin will only cause you hurt,
And with it I often dangerously flirt.
Call it for what it is ,
Because it is serious.

We are all guilty of this dark deed,
And we do all a Savior need.
For all we have could not atone,
And we cannot cast the first stone.

We are wicked and lost on our own,
And if we stay this way, He will say to you I have not known.
Repent of this wickedness, and turn to Him,
For your chances with sin are slim.

To say that your chances are slim,
If you choose sin, then you will have none of Him.
Do not let your eyes turn aside,
And destroy yourself in selfish pride.

God is My Judge

God is my judge and in my sin,
The verdict of guilty was brought in.
Jesus, stands in our place,
And we are called righteous, by His amazing grace.

Judge not, because you will be judged,
Vengeance is His and He will not be grudged.
The day will come when we stand before Him,
And out of Him, all righteousness does stem.

He knows our thoughts and deeds,
He knows what our soul needs.
We cannot judge man's inner part,
Because God only knows the human heart.

Questions of Need

Are you lost and all alone?
Have all your friends from you gone?
I know the One on Who you can depend,
And He will help your soul to defend.

Are you needing the truest love?
You need to know God above.
The love I speak of is full and free,
All you have to do is open your sin-darkened eyes to see.

Are you seeking a relationship that will never end?
Are you looking for someone on whom you can always depend?
Then I can tell you about my God,
And how He can release you from the holds of this earthly sod.

Real Hell

You say that you have been through Hell today,
But if you think about it, there is no way.
There is nothing close to being there,
And you say that in life you are being treated unfair.

Hell is reserved for the lost,
So we must save as many at any cost.
Be a light within the dark,
Take them into the Savior's ark.

Remember the next time you use that phrase,
That this truth is not just a passing phase.
For God does not want to turn anyone away,
But when dealing with a life God does not play.

Fear in Perspective

Fear is in the hearts of men,
Because they don't know the trouble their in.
Their end to them is unknown,
Until their state to them is shown.

Fear I the One who made me,
Because He set me free.
My end will not be in vain,
And His praise, will be my life's refrain.

Fear not the man of flesh,
Because righteousness and sin do not mesh.
For if the gift of life you receive,
It is because in Him, you believe.

Disconnected

We long to have someone to connect to,
And we want something to see us through.
All the things that might fill us are vain,
And they cannot take away our soul's pain.

We have been cut off by our sin,
And we have been left empty within.
Satan wants to keep us in the dark,
And keep us from salvation's journey to embark.

Do you feel disconnected?
And by the world neglected?
For the world does not care,
And would your thoughts impair.

Do you want connect to something greater?
Do you want to know about your Creator?
He came down from up on high,
And came down and did for us die.

For God has given us as sons the power,*
And has come in our needing hour.
We will reconnect with Him in presence,
And in His presence there will be not hesitance.**

* - "But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name:"(John 1:12)

** - This day will come soon, when we will all stand in His great presence.

What Has Your God Done For You?

Does your god sit there encased in stone?
Or sitting there not caring on their throne?
Does your god have many faces?
An earthly form in many places.

Does your god have earthly powers?
Is he awake after hours?
Does he listen to your cries?
Or within a grave is where he lies?

A god of love, war, and greed,
Does he know your every need?
A god of hate, flesh, and despair,
When all is lost is he there?

When all is said and done,
Is your god the only one?
Has he seen you through the dark?
Has he followed you on the journey you embark?

The questions that I impart,
Are the questions of the human heart.
For we can seek to no avail,
Because by our own power, we will end up in Hell.

My God is the only One,
Yet many people would shun.
For He gave His only Son,
He did it so our soul could be won.

He has always been enough for me,
He clear my sin-darkened eyes so I could see.
For life without Him is no life at all,
For He is my life and my life's call.

Put away all the sinful desires,
Dowse all those fleshly fires.
We are made of God, not of chance,
And by His Word, we advance.

My God has done great things,
And that is why my heart sings.
He gave us life to live eternal,
And enjoy blessings supernal.

Deep in the Soul

No matter how deep the pain,
I can offer up this sweet refrain,
"It is well with my soul,"*
For my life is under His control.

For though I am hurting in the deepest part,
My Savior knows my heart.
Though I am feeling all alone,
He is on my heart's throne.

You are down to your last breath,
Your answer does not lie in death.
Your answer lies in the blood on the cross,
Because your life is not worth the loss.

Though the skies are getting dark,
He is my safety and my ark.
Though the waters have begun to rise,
My salvation within Him lies.

* "It Is Well With My Soul"- Horatio G. Spafford / Philip P. Bliss

"Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O Lord, according unto thy Word."
Psalm 119:65

Discerning All

Discern both word and deed,
And by salvation be freed.
For your soul, Satan would lie,
And lead you to Hell to die.

Discern what passeth the eye,
And let not your flesh get by.
For letting go the flesh to sin,
Has brought down many men.

Discern what passeth the ear,
And by Your Word, discern what we hear.
For hear from our Father in Heaven,
That we cannot serve God and mammon.

God Cares More

Satan has tried many things,
And sin by death the soul stings.
He does not care about your eternal state,
His heart is filled with deceit and hate.

I want to tell you about One who cares,
And all your burdens shares,
For His mercy is new every morning,
And I want to proclaim this urgent warning.

Your soul is important to God,
And He will direct you on this earthly sod.
His heart is filled with love and grace,
And He will give the strength to finish the race.

Peace Within

Peace comes from the Lord,
And that through the Spirit is assured.
Amongst all the world's clamor,
Christ is the answer.

His peace calms life's waves,
And His blood my soul saves.
We all look for calm amongst the storm,
And this peace is outside the norm.

He spoke to the waters and they were still,
And in this thought my soul does thrill.
For peace is not found on this earthly plane,
It is eternal in Christ and there it shall remain.

He knows the thoughts of each long heart,
And there on the cross He did His part.
Look to the Savior and you shall find,
The peace of heart, soul, and mind.

State of the Heart

Hearts, cold and breaking,
Because Satan is overtaking.
Christ can melt the hearts of men,
Christ can free them from sin.

Hearts, warmed and filled,
Never by Satan to be chilled.
Lord, fill with Thy Spirit,
And by Thy Spirit proclaim it.

Hearts, live and beating,
And on our lips now repeating.
Worthy is the Lamb,
Son of God, the great I AM.

Daylight

Daylight breaks and shines the Eternal Son,
And light shines in the darkness, and souls to be won.
Our light should not be hid,
But we should let others know what Christ did.

Daylight breaks and I see Your beautiful creation,
And I thank the Lord for my salvation.
You are the life and light of all my being,
And You show me what I need to be seeing.

Daylight breaks and darkness doth flee,
For my chains fell off and now I am free.
I love the light of your presence,
And may my light shine with Your resonance.

Care for Creation

The nature we see was created by God above,
Not by some explosion void of a Creator's love.
We are made for the purpose of His praise,
This is our praise for the rest of our days.

The beauty of the earth bears the mark of God,
And every detail of His Creation bring Him laude.
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep," *
But He doth His Creation safely keep.

Worship not the creation and what it has to offer,
But the Creator and all in His power did proffer.
I am created by God and His image I do bear,
And I carry the message of His salvation with care.

Beginning of All

God spoke and the stars spread across the sky,
And then the earth in the heavens began to fly.
The earth had no expression upon its face,
The Spirit moved upon the water in the place.

The darkness was in need of light,
And when He spoke it, He knew it was right.
The day became day, and the night became night,
The first day of God's creation showed His might.

The next day brought the parting of the sky and the sea,
The sky was called the heavens and that is how it came to be.
The day that was the third brought about the land,
And the earth was sculpted by the Master's hand.

The sun, moon, and stars shone their lights in the heavens above,
This was fourth day made with God's care and love.
The sun was given the rule over the day,
The moon came to light when night came to stay.

Every creature was created for the land, air, and sea,
And this on day five was the way that God meant it to be.
God gave the command to the animals He created,
To multiply so that earth would be populated.

Then as God commanded the animals began to multiply,
And all after their kind were created by and by.
The sixth day brought forth the fruit of the living,
Man, He also created so glory to Him could be given.

From the aardvark to the zebra, Adam gave a name,
And he was naked and there was no shame,
God created everything and He did His best,
And now it was time for Him to rest.
(Inspired by Genesis 1)

Hands Down

He created the universe with His own hand,
And now in Christ through salvation stand.
I have been fashioned by His design,
And my life in Him I resign.

He took nails into His hands on the tree,
And through His sacrifice, I am now free.
My eyes were once darkened by sin,
And with His hands He uncovered them.

He drew the waters from out of the deep,
He guided Noah, and his family did safely keep.
With His hands He guided the ark,
And with a rainbow across the sky made His mark.

Hands down, He accomplished a wondrous thing,
And that is why we, His people, His praises sing.
With His hands He embraces my heart,
And He cares for every part.

Enough

When is enough, enough?
You claim life is rough,
There was no one to turn to,
I have been there with you.

I keep calling out to you,
I know all that you have been through,
Let Me pull you out of the darkness,
And tell you about sin's forgiveness.

The world is not your friend,
Do you want to find that out in the end?
I spilled My blood upon the tree,
My salvation is simple and free.

Enough is enough, and this is My plea:
I am the Truth and I will set you free.
Cast away your sins and I will make you clean,
This offer stands as it always has been.

Faith and Following

Our footsteps in His light,
Keeps our steps aright.
Your glory is ever present,
And Your laws are pleasant.

I trust in what You have spoken,
And You healed my heart when it was broken.
All You asked from me is that I obey,
And You will guide me in the right way.

Happiness is in You, my Lord,
And following Thy Law is my reward.
For obedience is hard I find,
But I seek You in my heart and in my mind.

Caring for the Innocent

You knew me before my life's start,
And You fashioned me in the hidden part.*
My plans are by You led,
For You are the keeper of my head.

Many have not seen the light of day,
But You have cared for them anyway.
Your plans for us are good,
And follow these we should.

Take not for granted this life you live,
Because it is in the power of God to give.
For those that were not given a choice,
Let us be their loudly speaking voice.

Love?

What is Love? I asked my dad,
It is giving everything I had,
For the love I speak is more than a word,
It is love unconditional, from what I have heard.

Love has suffered much and never was altered,
Love is not selfish, and gives itself unaltered.
Love takes up the burden when overtaken,
Love believes when our beliefs are shaken.

The love that I know has never failed,
That fellowship restored in the temple unveiled.
When prophecies are unknown,
It will be shown, when we are known as we are known.

Looking into the mirror, I see this fleshly shell,
And I know that without God's love, my end is Hell.
I was child and unable to understand,
The truth about Christ's love that He has planned.

Courage of Our Fathers

Abraham gave all he had even his only son,
To show the way of an even greater One.
The faith he had was small,
But it would set example for us all.

Joseph was soon to be joined to his wife,
And he was soon to experience the greatest joy in his life.
God let him know what was to be done,
He and Mary were to welcome God's Son.

Jesus had the courage to go the cross,
And many thought that it would be to His loss.
He continued up that hill to take away our sin,
This sacrifice was made for all men.

Our fathers fought to keep the land free,
And to protect our family's tree.
It took courage when none was left,
Through it all, none were bereft.

Our Heavenly Father intended the best,
If He is our choice, then He will do the rest.
Ask for the courage, today, and He will provide,
Because it is in you that your family does confide.

Created

Words spoken and the worlds came to be,
And when it came time, You created me.
And when I was born, in sin I was torn,
You saw my need, and in You, I was reborn.

Words You spoke and in Your Word I have read,
There is more to life than man has said.
Words of Life I have found and I take hold,
My salvation is in the blood of Christ I'm told.

Words of truth are rooted in my soul,
And Your Spirit in my life has taken control.
Created for Your purpose and that alone,
To spread Your Word and make Your glory known.

Words so absolute and true and undisputed,
These in my soul's soil can not be uprooted.
Reading and praying, I hear Your voice,
And know that You are my life's choice.

Consumed

I stand in the fire waiting for You,
Thy Spirit consume me in everything I do.
By faith I stood in the fire and was not consumed,
You stood by me, when in the fire I was entombed.

The flames of Hell sought to claim my life,
But You pulled me away from the strife.
My life would be overtaken; if not covered by the blood,
You have kept me stable in the overwhelming flood.

A life consumed by You will know Your fulfilling joy,
And this I can proclaim to You without alloy.
From sinner to God's redeeming grace,
I know that my soul has an eternal dwelling place.

Lord, Consume me like the fire of Daniel's day,
Please lead me, so I do not go astray.
So when I join You on bright heaven's shore,
My praise will be forever more.

Lay It All Down

What I have is meager,
But I am always eager,
To use what I have for Thee,
For it is the only way I see.

The days are passing,
And what have we done?
Was it something that was lasting?
Or will you come away with none.

You laid it all down on the cross,
So at the end we might not suffer loss.
We are here to take up our own,
So that through it all Your glory will be shown.

I lay it all down at Your beautiful feet,
Even when trials and troubles we meet.
The reward is not in receiving a crown,
But it is in laying it all down.

A Spark

A spark can set a place ablaze,
And can cause a fire to raise.
The fire can refine or destroy,
And can refine without alloy.

A spark comes away from the flame,
And fades away with no shame.
For the life it had was short,
From this there is much to report.

As a spark we must burn bright,
And glow with God's light.
Once we pass it on we must fan the flame,
And go forth in Jesus' name.

Looking

We are looking for something to fill this hole,
This part that God has given us called a soul.
We search constantly to find some meaning in this life,
In this world that daily has unwavering strife.

Look to God, the one that created you,
See that He by His power can get you through.
Lift your eyes to see the light that He is shining.
To answer to your soul's pining.

We look at these things that He has written,
And wonder why He for us was smitten?
He thought to save us from all that we have done wrong,
For without Him we are condemned to punishment eternity long.

Look past this veil of darkness that has been put over our eyes,
To see that what we are told by man is made up of lies.
Look to the One that has peace amongst these fleeting days,
To see that He is the only One deserving of our praise.

-Wade Jinright

Free

The chains that are binding my heart and my soul,
Are the ways that Satan seeks my life to control.
Escape is what I seek from this deep dark prison cell,
So that my soul will not end up burning in Hell.

I had never known how to see,
Because of the distorted images in front of me.
I once was like the blind man who in darkness dwelt,
Until the hand of my Savior I felt.

Like the experience that Paul and Silas had,
I through rejoicing am made glad.
Freedom, I claim, through Jesus and His name.
Satan through Christ has been put to shame.
