Why Are You Hurting?

Why are you hurting so deep inside?
Are you lost and without a guide?
The pain you feel is holding you down,
And you feel like you are beginning to drown.

My soul is aching and wondering why,
There is much sadness and so many tears I cry.
There is a voice calling through the dark,
There is a greater journey on which to embark.

He says, I will never leave, nor forsake,
I will help to bear the burdens that you undertake.
I once long ago carried a cross,
In order that you not suffer loss.

We are all given a cross to bear,
But He is there our burdens to share.
So give Him your hurt and give Him your pain,
And He will your soul sustain.

Love: A Poetic Look At I Corinthians 13

Love proclaimed with no heart,
Cannot love truly impart.
We love and Christ employs,
Because if we don't it is only noise.
(I Corinthians 13:1)

We think we know about love,
But in Christ, He came from above.
Giving my all, and loving not,
Can cause the soul to be forgot.
(I Corinthians 13:2-3)

Love can take a great deal of hurt,
And when things get tough, it does not desert.
Love is always kind,
And it does not leave anyone behind.
(I Corinthians 13:4a)

Love does not envy others,
But it exhorts its fellow brothers.
Love does not say, I did it on my own,
For by itself, it is left all alone.
(I Corinthians 13:4b)

Love does not say look at me,
It says, Christ, it is because of Thee.
Pride there is no place for you,
It is through Christ, I do what I do.
(I Corinthians 13:4b continued)

Love thinks on the things above,
And knows only the things of love.
Love is not dwelling on evil things,
But love is all that it brings.
(I Corinthians 13:5)

Love holds truth in it's heart,
And in evil it does not take part.
Love took up the cross and did forbear,
And did sacrifice His life for our sins there.
(I Corinthians 13:6-7)

Love believed when others could not,
It chose to love when others forgot.
Love had hope when none could be found,
And through the ages it still does resound.
(I Corinthians 13:7b)

Love endures when things seem hard,
And it continues on when others did disregard.
Love never fails when times get tough,
Love keeps on loving when others say that they have had enough.
(I Corinthians 13:7c, 8a)

Love cannot be known complete,
Until our Savior we shall meet.
Seek the love that God affords,
And you will know its great rewards.
(I Corinthians 13:9,10)

Love continues to flourish and grow,
I once was a child but now I know.
Love is greater than anything,
But it will not be known, until to Christ your soul you bring.
(I Corinthians 13:11-13)

Home Defined

What make a house a home?
A place that we can roam.
The love that fills the heart,
That is where it does start.

The family does grow in these confines,
And those memories it reminds.
What comes home and enter these doors,
Gives us wings and our family soars.

Our borders doth increase,
And God's wonders never cease.
Put your family in the hands of God,
And He leads us on to the eternal sod.

My house is blessed to be a home,
And I know where I came from.
Build up the house you have been given,
Because there is no better way of living.

Blood on the Battlefield

The blood of those that have fought to keep our country free will be remembered as long as we are here. They have fought not for themselves, but for the country as a whole. They would rather lay their lives down in harm's way in order keep what we hold so dear and that is our freedom. Remember them on a daily basis, because if we forget them then we have already lost the battle.

The blood on the battlefield calls out,
And the soldiers moved forward with a battle shout.
They fought so their family could be free,
And not have to live under the enemy's tyranny.

The blood on the battlefield was not shed in vain,
But inspires those fighting that still remain.
The patriots of our past cause us to pause,
And to know that they fought for a worthy cause.

The blood on the battlefield gives us strength,
And helps us to fight to any length.
The patriots still fight on and hold the fort,
And will their fellow patriots exhort.

The blood on the battlefield will serve to remind us,
That our soldiers who fight are courageous.
The troops will bravely stand their ground,
And our freedom will because of them abound.

Foundation

It is where they stood in ages past,
It is built on the Word which will always last.
We stand not on sinking sand,
But on Christ and His guiding hand.

By God's Word we have made our dwelling,
And as the wise man I am to you telling.
For we live not behind a facade,
But we live to honor God.

The Solid Rock on which I stand,
Was not fashioned by man's hand.
He has made our foundation sure,
And it will forever endure.

The Standard

We hold high the standard of the cross,
And with Words of God on our heart emboss.
This standard old and true,
Christ through sacrifice sought to save me and you.

His standard is our anchor in the world's raging flood,
And He our Savior has covered us with His blood.
We sin and did not care,
But He with patience is waiting there.

Remember this standard well,
For without it, your end is Hell.
The reality of this is sure,
And Christ's blood sacrifice is the cure.

The standard strong and true,
Will in the hard times deliver you.
Praise to God, Who in Eternity sits,
And He for us never quits.
